John Sayer is Head of Development Consultancy at Ardent, where he leads the firm’s regeneration and development advisory offer. He is a chartered surveyor with over 24 years’ experience in the property sector, specialising in land assembly, compulsory purchase and the delivery of complex regeneration and infrastructure projects.
John has spent almost 20 years advising on land assembly for major regeneration, housing and transport schemes, acting for a wide range of clients including local authorities, developers, registered providers, landowners and occupiers. His project experience spans town centre renewal, estate regeneration and strategic infrastructure, with notable work across the whole of the UK.
He is a Chartered Surveyor (MRICS), RICS Registered Valuer and an Associate of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators. John is appointed to the RICS President’s Panel for Compulsory Purchase Dispute Resolution and has undertaken a number of appointments acting as either an Expert Determiner or a Mediator in compulsory purchase related disputes.
Outside his consultancy work, John is deeply engaged in the profession. He is a national board member and Immediate Past Chair of the Compulsory Purchase Association and is a regular conference chair and speaker. He also contributes to professional training and mentoring across the compulsory purchase and development sector. In addition to his many years’ experience advising others, his professional perspective is informed by first hand experience as a landowner claimant, having been directly affected by the delivery of a new pipeline scheme.
