Stephen Webb

Technical Lead, Utilities, Transport and Telecoms Team, National Specialist Unit, Valuation Office Agency

Steve has worked for the Valuation Office Agency since 1984 following a short spell in private practice. Initially he was based in Dorset where he dealt with a wide range of rating and other valuation work including compulsory purchase of land for the A31 and (under the Coast Protection Act) for a seafront promenade. In 1996 he joined the Utilities Rating Team to implement the change to conventional rating for those industries still assessed at the time by statutory formula.

In 2008 he transferred to the Specialist Valuation Unit (now NSU Industrial and Crown team) to concentrate on valuation of large industrial hereditaments, with particular responsibility for the nuclear industry. At the start of this year Steve took up the post of Team Head for the Utilities and Transport Team within the NSU. This team is responsible for assessment of power generators, electricity and gas networks, water supply networks, railways, ports/ferry terminals and civil airports throughout England and Wales.”
