Julian specialises in development, in particular infrastructure and energy and major redevelopment projects.
His practice areas include advising on Nationally Significant Infrastructure Projects (NSIPs), planning obligations and infrastructure agreements, planning appeals and judicial review, including appearing as a planning inquiry advocate, environmental impact, Habitats and Appropriate Assessment and compulsory purchase.
Julian's practice centres on energy (conventional, renewables and nuclear), waste, highways and regeneration.

- Acting for Highways England on NSIP applications for two road schemes.
- Advising SSE Renewables and RWE Npower Renewables on NSIP for 504MW Galloper offshore wind farm.
- Advising major utility on NSIP for new CCGT power station.
- Advising MeyGen on consenting pioneering 86MW tidal stream project off John o’Groats.
- Advising Snowdonia Pumped Hydro on 99.9MW pumped storage NSIP in North Wales.
