John and colleagues established the planning consultancy Quod six years ago and have seen it grow rapidly to become one of the largest consultancies in London, and now in Leeds.

John is closely associated with a wide range of regeneration projects such as Stratford City, the redevelopment of the Shell Centre and Brent Cross Cricklewood. He has a close involvement in housing projects, including large scale urban extensions and new settlements. John also acts on a number of national infrastructure projects such as Hinkley and Sizewell nuclear power stations, the Thames Tideway Tunnel, infrastructure projects for TfL and the third runway at Heathrow. John is a Board member of the National Infrastructure Planning Association.

John was one of 4 members of the Practitioners Advisory Group, asked by government to produce a draft of the NPPF and he has worked closely with CLG on CIL reforms and as an advisor on the National Planning Practice Guidance. More recently John chaired the government’s Local Plans Expert Group. John was awarded an OBE for his services to the economy, planning and communities in 2015.
