After 25 years in private practice, Peter McCrea was appointed the youngest ever member of the Lands Chamber in 2013, and is now the senior Member. Since then, his 150+ decisions have encompassed the whole range of the Tribunal’s jurisdictions including compensation references, CAAD’s, telecoms and rating. He was chair of the RICS benevolent fund, LionHeart, for six years. In summer 2024 he joined the board of the University College of Estate Management, and was appointed Chair of the University with effect from February 2025. He was awarded OBE in the 2024 Birthday Honours for service to the profession of Chartered Surveyors, and was awarded the 2024 RICS Lifetime Achievement award. He is an Honorary Member of the RICS Rating Diploma Holders’ Section, and of the Rating Surveyors Association, and is vicariously re-living his career in practice through his daughter, who is currently on her APC.
