After being
educated at Northampton School for Boys, Mr Justice Dove read Law at St Catherine’s
College Oxford, and having studied the Bar finals, was called to the Bar at
Inner Temple in 1986.
He
was a member of the Planning and Environment Bar association, the
Administrative Bar association and the Compulsory Purchase association.
Prior
to taking silk, he served on the panel of Junior Counsel to the Crown (Treasury
Council) in the provinces. He sat as an immigration judge, Recorder in the
Crown and County Courts, Deputy High Court judge and occasional inspector for
Town and Village Green enquiries until he was appointed a High Court Judge on 1st October
2014.
Mr Justice Dove was appointed to sit in the Queen’s Bench Division and is nominated to sit in the Administrative court, the Planning court and SIAC. Since January 2018 he has been a Presiding Judge on the Northern Circuit
He
is a bencher at the Inner Temple and from 2013 – 2014 was an Honorary
professor of Law at Birmingham University. In September 2016 he was
made an Honorary Fellow of St Catherine’s college, Oxford.
