Gary is Partner and head of Burges Salmon’s Planning and Compulsory Purchase team. He provides compulsory purchase and compensation advice to both acquiring authorities and claimants. Gary’s recent CPO work includes acting for the Isle of Anglesey County Council in relation to its energy island programme and major projects; assisting Torbay Council in delivering an extra care housing led mixed use scheme at Crossways, Paignton; promoting CPOs and SROs for the Banwell Bypass in North Somerset; acting for the Environment Agency on the Oxford Flood Alleviation Scheme; and jointly for the EA and the Canal and River Trust on CPOs for significant environmental improvements along the River Severn. Gary chairs the Welsh CPA steering group and is a co-opted member of the national CPA committee.
