Martyn Cowlin

Casework Lawyer, Planning Court


Martyn Cowlin is a solicitor, qualifying whilst in the employ of Essex Magistrates’ Court Committee in 1991. Martyn worked as a Legal Adviser in Essex Magistrates’ Courts, based in Colchester, from 1985, acting as Clerk to the Court in all types of court. In 2000, in search of a change, Martyn joined the staff of the Administrative Court Office at the Royal Courts of Justice as a case work lawyer, initially specialising in criminal cases because of his background in the magistrates’ court. Martyn first started dealing with planning cases in July 2013 and in April 2014, with the creation of the dedicated Planning Court, was asked to head up the Planning Law Team.
