David van der Lande

David’s career has been in private sector consultancy working on housing, regeneration and infrastructure schemes, being a formative part of a planning and compulsory purchase team and as Partner, heading a CPO and Regeneration Team. He was a Director in Retail Development at a major London based consultancy practice, before forming his own consultancy, Town Centre Regeneration Ltd, in 2009. He is also a Director of i-squared Development Management part of the Iceni Projects stable of businesses.  He advises developers, occupiers and local authorities on viability, planning and site assembly, including the use of Compulsory Purchase in the delivery of new development and urban regeneration schemes, often embedded in client entities.

He has a practical understanding of the assumptions required to bring development sites forward and has structured complex planning agreements, taking challenging policy objectives into account while setting out the funding and commercial constraints required to bring sites forward for development. He has deployed these arguments in negotiation of planning obligations that meet the NPPF objectives of bringing forward deliverable development. His practical development experience extends into construction with Go-modular Technologies, 

In assembling sites for development David has negotiated land equalisation agreements and appeared at Compulsory Purchase inquiries as an expert witness. He has deployed arguments which have been supported in the House of Lords. David is a Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors, a member of Revo and a member of the Compulsory Purchase Association.

David is married and lives in Suffolk enjoys the great outdoors, from field sports to cycling, marrying the rural idyll with the challenges of urban regeneration.
