Andrew Tait QC has been chairman of PEBA since 2016.

He has long experience of major infrastructure proposals, having promoted several railway proposals, including most recently the Northern Line Extension, the Victoria Station Upgrade, the Bank Station Capacity proposals and the Barking Riverside Extension, promoted the largest road proposal through the DCO system and acted for numerous petitioners in the HS2 hearings. He is currently involved in promoting new railway and road schemes, new settlement proposals and minerals extraction schemes. He is also currently instructed in a number of land compensation disputes in the Lands Chamber.

He is described in Chambers and Partners for 2018 as “Calm and collected and a force to be reckoned with. A top practitioner who is technically brilliant and wonderful to work with.”

He was appointed as Queen’s Counsel in 2003 and as a Bencher of Inner Temple in 2011. He became an Assistant Parliamentary Boundary Commissioner in 2000.

He has been Head of Chambers at Francis Taylor Building since 2012.
