Weston is a Partner at Gowling WLG (UK) LLP specialising in compulsory
purchase, development consent, planning and highways law. She advises on all
aspects of compulsory purchase, with particular emphasis on working with public
bodies and developers to deliver regeneration, housing and transport projects.
She regularly advises both acquiring authorities and landowners in submitting
and concluding compensation claims, either through completion of a settlement
agreement or following a hearing in the Upper Tribunal (Lands Chamber). Recent
projects include advising National Highways on development consent orders for
the M54 to M6 Link Road scheme and the M60 Simister Island Improvement scheme
and advising South Tees Development Corporation on the first use of its
compulsory purchase powers to secure regeneration of 4,500 acres of former
steelworks.
