Hugh is a Chartered Surveyor based in the Cheltenham office and is responsible for IT matters for the Business Rates team nationally and assists with managing the Business Rates team nationally. He has experience in landlord and tenant, compulsory purchase and valuation for asset, portfolio and loan purposes.

Hugh has worked for GL Hearn since 1989 and is responsible for managing IT matters for the Business Rates team nationally. He has dealt with the valuation for rating purposes of food superstores and supermarkets in the South West, the North West of England and across Wales.  In recent years he has focused on dealing with the assessment of foodstores in Wales and overseeing the coordination with those across the South West. His experience in the valuation and negotiation of rating assessments includes appearance at the Valuation Tribunal. He has also valued shops, offices, industrial and residential premises for Taxation purposes.

Hugh has been responsible for project managing the design and implementation of the GL Hearn Information Management System which is aimed to provide direct client access to their own data. This focuses on the exchange of data with the Valuation Office Agency and Valuation Tribunal on through electronic means. 

Hugh has been a member of the eComms Forum since 2004 and has Chaired the Forum since 2012 with a remit from the RICS, RSA & IRRV to “to act as liaison representative in respect of electronic communications between the firms and individuals who are members of those professional bodies and the VOA and VTS.”
