Robert is an expert in the Rating valuation of specialist
properties, in particular motor car showrooms, motor auction centres and the
wider motor trade; but also, film and television studios, educational
properties, glassworks, major printing works and major leisure attractions. He
also deals with shops, city centre offices and banking premises; industrials
and retail warehouses.
Robert attends
Valuation Tribunal for England hearings and has previously been called as an
expert witness on unusual Rating cases. On behalf of The Rating Surveyors'
Association and the Institute of Revenues, Rating and Valuation he headed up
the nationwide co-ordination of car showroom committees for both the 2000, 2005
and 2010 Rating Lists and is currently planning the same task for future
appeals against the 2017 list.
He is a fellow of
the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors and RICS Registered Valuer, and a
committee member of The Rating Surveyors’ Association, for whom he was the
National President for 2015-16. He is also a former national council member of
the Institute of Revenues, Rating and Valuation (IRRV) where he served on the
Law and Research and Professional Conduct Committees. He is remains a member of
The IRRV Valuers’ Association Board
He was appointed in
2014 as the RSA representative on the Joint Professional Institutes Rating
Valuation Forum, which has reviewed the contractor’s test method of valuation
for the 2017 Rating Revaluation.
