Rob has a broad public law practice with an emphasis on planning and environmental matters.

He is a member of the Attorney General’s B Panel, and regularly appears in the Planning Court. Recent examples of his court work include Ikhram v SSHCLG [part heard]; Leeds City Council v SSHCLG  [2019] EWHC 68; R. (on the application of Headcorn Parish Council) v SSCLG [2017] Env. L.R. 34; and Relta Ltd v Greater London Authority [2017] EWHC 671 (Admin)

Rob acts for both private parties and local planning authorities in planning appeals, with a wide range of subject matter. These have included inquiries and hearings relating to windfarms, mixed-use proposals, eco-homes, listed buildings, major residential developments, business parks, energy from waste plants, universities and schools.

Rob has also developed a specialism in local plan examinations, having promoted Waverley and Guildford Local Plans, and having appeared on behalf of private parties at the Nuneaton, Craven, Hart and West Sussex Minerals Local Plan examinations.

He was called to the Bar in 2008, having previously read law at University College London.
