Karen is a planning partner with Brodies LLP with more than 20
years’ experience. She is recognised as an expert in compulsory purchase with
significant experience of major infrastructure projects in the transport and
renewables sectors. She has acted on behalf of Transport Scotland, Scotland’s
national roads agency, in respect of a number of strategic roads projects and
has been involved in the 3 new Scottish railway projects. She is currently
working with a number of local authority promoters of CPOs for transport and
housing related projects. Karen has been ranked as a leading individual by
independent legal directory Chambers and Partners since 2010. She is co-author
of the Planning and Compulsory Purchase and Compensation chapters of the Stair
Memorial Encyclopaedia, a standard text for Scottish lawyers, and is a regular
speaker at Scottish Government events.
