John has negotiated access to and acquisition of over 5000 properties throughout Australia, New Zealand for various infrastructure projects across residential, commercial, industrial and rural sectors. He has been personally responsible for the timely, cost effective land delivery for a number of Australia’s most significant infrastructure projects.

John Sturgeon worked as a real estate valuer, project manager and senior advisor in the public sector throughout metropolitan & regional Queensland for almost a decade before establishing his own consultancy practice in 1998. Having been raised in rural Queensland and educated in Brisbane, John has a genuine and unique understanding of issues faced by Land Access, Community Engagement and Government Stakeholder Liaison activities of infrastructure owners and managers.

Acquisition / Land Access / Community Liaison:
John has provided strategic advice, community engagement and negotiation services to carry out securing access to and acquisition of over 5000 properties Australia-wide in the residential, rural, commercial, industrial, telecommunication and retail sectors.
- Negotiation of over 2000 individual Land Access Agreements for ARTC’s Inland Rail Project between Brisbane and Melbourne.
- Successful delivery of property acquisition & land delivery programs for a number of large PPP transport infrastructure, education and public utility projects.
- Development of a subterranean volumetric resumption compensation methodology adopted by the Queensland Government.
- Managed the acquisition and resumption of over $1B worth of real estate interests for Major Infrastructure projects including Airport Link, Crossriver Rail and Gold Coast Light Rail.
- Delivered all property requirements – on time and on budget – for Australia’s largest road project – Airport Link.
- Provided Value Engineering services for Surat Basin Rail and Sunshine Coast Mass Transit Projects.
