John Boulton has responsibility for ICAEW’s technical policy activities, which include representing ICAEW’s
views to standard setters and government on topics from tax to trade with the EU. He is the author of
ICAEW’s report Business rates: maintain, demolish, rebuild or refurbish? which examines current issues with
business rates and considers the case for reform. John is a chartered accountant and has experience as a
preparer, auditor and analyst of listed company financial statements. He is a former member of the FASB’s
advisory council and chairs the London Society for Chartered Accountants’ financial reporting discussion
group.
