Margaret has experience of compulsory
purchase from both the claimant and acquiring authority perspective. With Carter Jonas in Oxford she advised
clients affected by the dualling of the A34 and the completion of the M40.
In 1996 Margaret moved to Lancashire
County Council and now leads the Transport Team in the Estates Service. The Transport Team is responsible for land
assembly from first scheme identification, through the drafting of the
compulsory purchase vehicle to the acquisition of land interests. The Team is responsible for the negotiation
of all compensation including Part 1 Claims.
The majority of schemes are highway schemes from footpaths to special roads but Margaret's experience also covers land assembly for Accrington Bus Station and currently a proposed railway station.
Margaret led on land assembly for the
M6/Heysham Link Road (the first highway Development Consent Order), the
Broughton Bypass and the Preston Western Distributor, East West and Cottam Link
Roads. Therefore, she has experience of
both Development Consent Orders and Compulsory Purchase Orders.
