Alex Lim currently leads MHCLG’s responsibilities around
business rates tax policy, focused in particular on the overall administration
of the system through local government, and on interactions with the wider
local government finance system. Prior to this role he undertook a number of
civil service roles covering health and social care, reforms to the audit
system for local public bodies, and neighbourhood regeneration. Before joining
the civil service, he worked at Tower Hamlets Council and for a small
regeneration consultancy in London.
