Lead Architect - Midland Stations (Curzon Street), High Speed 2 (HS2) Ltd


Hala is a qualified and chartered architect with particular expertise in public sector Healthcare and major Infrastructure Rail projects, ranging from small to multi-million pound schemes, some of which have received industry awards for excellence.

Over the past decade she has developed her skills and expertise leading multi-disciplinary teams working on major, complex transportation infrastructure projects such as the redevelopment of Birmingham New Street Station / Grand Central and Crossrail Farringdon Station.

She took on her current role, in June 2017, as Lead Architect (and HS2 Design Vision guardian) for the HS2 Phase 1 Midlands Stations at both Curzon and Interchange and has played a key role in leading the design teams through their respective Schedule 17 planning consents processes and assuring the scheme design that has been used to successfully procure our next stage design and build construction partner at Curzon.

She is also one of the first cohort of HS2 Design Champions who graduated in Sept 2019 from this HS2 pilot initiative.

As subject matter expert (SME) for all Architecture and design-related matters, her role is to support the developing Curzon Station Integrated Project Team working with the delivery project managers, technical and operational specialists, supply chain and our regional stakeholders to fully integrate and coordinate our programmed works.

She has been a registered member of ARB and the RIBA for over 25 years and is an accredited ICE- NEC3 ECC Project Manager .

Ultimately, she has a personal passion in playing an active part in HS2 realising its Strategic Objective for being ‘more than just a railway’ and in contributing to its learning and educational legacy.
