Jonathan is Director General of the Valuation Office (VO) Group within HMRC. As Director General, he has overall responsibility for the Valuation Office and sits on HMRC’s Executive Committee. 

Jonathan has over 30 years’ experience in the Civil Service, spanning a range of central government and international roles. He was previously Chief People Officer at the VOA before being appointed Chief Executive in 2020. 

Jonathan is actively involved across the wider public and voluntary sectors. He is a member of the Institute of Revenues, Rating and Valuation (IRRV), a Non-Executive Director of the Civil Service Insurance Society, and an Independent Member of the Charity Commission’s Remuneration and Appointments Committee. He also serves on the Civil Service Health and Safety Management Board. 

He is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development and a Member of the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health.
