James started his career as a graduate in Bedford VO in 1983 and has worked full time in Rating since Joining Edward Erdman in 1991 where he stayed through several name changes, dealing with appeals north and south of the border for over 20 years, until leaving Deloitte for BNP Paribas Real Estate in 2019. He advised the Ratepayers in the Orange v Bradford and Trunkfield v London Borough of Camden appeals. He finally took the plunge in 2023 and moved to Scotland to join Williams Young McKaig in Edinburgh, dealing mainly with Industrial and specialist properties.

James gained the Rating Diploma in 2019 and is an assessor for Module 8 and the Practical Test
