Claire has a busy practice with particular expertise in planning, infrastructure and compulsory purchase/compensation work with an environmental dimension. Accordingly, much of Claire's practice involves litigation and advisory work across electricity and renewable energy projects, residential schemes, environmental assessment regimes, water law, pollution, contaminated land, and chemicals law. She is ranked as a Tier 1 Rising Star in planning by the Legal 500, 2026 and is quickly gaining a reputation as a leading barrister in planning, major infrastructure, environmental and private law matters relating to PFAS (“forever chemicals”), having already amassed significant experience – both in the UK and internationally - in this emerging area. She is the author of the Chemicals Law Update for Chambers’ Environment Law Blog and has delivered several papers on PFAS at high level conferences in the UK and Ireland.
Claire is an experienced court advocate who is equally at home as sole or junior counsel in the High Court, Crown Court and Magistrates’ Courts. She is also a proficient inquiry advocate, regularly acting as sole counsel in lengthy, high profile and complex planning inquiries.
