Richard specialises in site assembly, particularly compulsory purchase and compensation advice, to promoters, developers and property owners. He joined Savills in 2012.

Richard has over 30 years experience of working with development advisors, town planners, engineers and lawyers to provide comprehensive land acquisition strategies and valuation advice for major development schemes and infrastructure projects. He frequently represents clients as an expert witness, having appeared in the Lands Tribunal, High Court, County Court, and Public Inquiries.

Richard is a past member of the governing council of the RICS. He is a previous member of the British property federation technical planning committee. He is a former chair of the planning and development professional group world board of the RICS. He is a member and former chairman of the RICS compulsory purchase policy panel. He is a member of the national infrastructure planning association, a founder member and former chairman of the compulsory purchase association.
