The law and practice are continuing to develop in the field of compulsory purchase and compensation. Large scale acquisitions such as those for the 2012 Olympics & Legacy and Crossrail are producing complex legal and valuation questions. The Bill to authorise HS2 will reach Parliament before long.  Business disturbance continues to give rise to difficult issues as illustrated by the Court of Appeal's decision in Lancaster City Council v Thomas Newall Ltd.

The seminar should be of benefit to all those working in this field, including acquiring authority officers, solicitors, surveyors, planners, accountants and developers.
