First elected to Parliament in 1992, Clive became Chairman of the Communities and Local Government Committee in 2010. Since then he has had a front row seat in the furious debate over planning that has raged since the inception of the Coalition, overseeing scrutiny of the National Planning Policy Framework as it went through Parliament. In May of this year the committee announced it was launching an inquiry into the operation of the NPPF in its first two years, with an emphasis on its impact on planning for housing, town centres and energy infrastructure.

SP Broadway is delighted to welcome Clive back to the Politics of Planning roundtable for a discussion on the long-term future of the planning system and where he thinks policy ought to lead in the next Parliament, regardless of who (if anyone!) emerges victorious from next year’s general election…
