The Compulsory Purchase Association's National Conference is the premier networking event in the CPA calendar and indeed in the CPO world. With a pre-eminent programme and set of speakers, if you're involved in CPO work, this is a must attend event for technical knowledge, updates and networking. It seeks to brief members and non-members on key matters connected with the practice of compulsory purchase and compensation.

The main focus of this year’s conference is on reform and practical implications for CPO practitioners.
In 2024, the Law Commission will publish its formal stakeholder consultation to inform its work in reviewing the existing CPO procedures and compensation system and ultimately, in producing a draft Bill consolidating the law and making proposals for technical changes.
The Levelling Up and Regeneration Act 2023 is now in force and a range of provisions relating to compulsory purchase are, or will, be brought into force this year. Updates to existing CPO guidance and prescribed forms are also expected to follow.
The conference will deliver the very latest updates on key CPO reforms and provide practical insight and analysis of the key points for CPO practitioners.
The spotlight will be put on the latest developments in proposed reform of the land rights and consenting regime for the electricity network in the United Kingdom, with the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero expected to publish its response to the 2022 Call for Evidence and next steps for bringing forward critical reforms to the existing processes as part of the drive to meet ambitious government Net Zero targets.
